Phoenix Fire Services was established in November 1998 as a sole proprietor. After a year of trading the company was restructured as a close corporation.

The name Phoenix Fire Services originates from the Phoenix of Greek mythology and the myth is that the Phoenix bird would die every 500 years and rise from its ashes reborn. The Phoenix is befitting for the company because BMD Knitting Mills which was originally situated on the present grounds had been burnt down and our company has risen from its ashes as a thriving business.

After one and a half years of trading (1999) we were awarded a million rand tender from the Department of Public works. Subsequently we have been re-awarded this tender in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, above that we were awarded private tenders to the value of R500 000. Furthermore we were privileged enough to expand the client base of the company with the purchasing of a fire company in the Eastern Cape. This allowed the company to cover a broader area.
